"Good question Marcus, forward any details to the USS Mistral." The
captain's hands clasped together, "How truly bad was it on the surface?" She
wanted to hear first hand accounts of what they saw and experienced, "Do you
believe it is viable for the planet to be fully habitable again?"

Saladin shrugged, "With modern terraforming anything is possible, but the
person doing so should know it will be a long road." He looked at those who
had not been to the surface and therefore had not seen the devastation.
"There's nothing alive out there. Virtually everything is dead. The natives
that have remained will be feeding on Federation rations for a considerable
time. Even when the radiation levels are back to normal the water has been
affected by it and it will take time before it becomes normal." He sighed,
"I recommend, that unless they're hear to help, Star Fleet prevent anyone
from returning for a considerable amount of time."

Cait rubbed tired eyes. What she was picking up from Marcus concerned her.
Perhaps she could have a word with him as well or maybe Toby be a better
choice. Hmm....she'd get him over for a family style dinner. With an effort,
she pulled her mind back to the task at hand. She must be really tired to be
plotting during a meeting. "I can't tell you what's going to happen to those
natives who remained. Even with the scrubbers to help clean the water and
Federation rations, they've all been exposed, though they've been treated
and innoculated. Continued exposure...." Cait shrugged. "I'll make sure the
CMO on the Mistral gets a full report."

"I wouldn't worry too much Doctor. From what we saw up here, the planet
itself is already working towards recovering from the disaster. I'm no
scientist, but I do know that the rains will help clear the radiation out of
the air, and that the ground itself will filter the radiation out of the
rain, and out of the water. Faster than you would expect, since I realize
you're wanting the speed of our technology to fix it all. However, that is
part of what the Mistral and other ships coming in will do. I don't even see
any reason to prevent people from moving back." Toby shrugged. "Their
atmosphere is still intact, now that they aren't being bombarded by the
unnatural solar flares I think recovery will go faster than either of you,"
he looked between Cait and Marcus, "think. The flares are unnatural by the
way this isn't a natural disaster, and even if it was this is a Federation
planet, they'll get help. And those who stayed knew what they were facing
without Federation aid, it was their choice, so please... No more looking at
this as if you'd condemned them all to deaths they didn't want. Nor are we
abandoning them, we are handing over the job to those better equipped and
better suited to dealing with the problem."

Marcus nodded to the first officer. "I know they will do a good job, it was
just difficult to see everything as it was." He smiled, "But you are
correct, it's in the Federations hands, not specifically ours."

K`ylana nodded, "The work that you all did was pivotal. Nix you along with
Lox unravelled a horrendous occurrence which I could be viewed as an attempt
to genocide. Those responsible, believe me, will be punished once it is
determined who specifically is responsible. But without your findings, all
of your findings," she glanced the table, "we'd not be in this place to
actually find a solution. I can only hope it's a select few and not
unravelled to be a whole planetary belief. From what chatter the Admiral has
been aware of there has been tension between a faction on Balbooa III and
this planet."

Kylee nodded, continuing to stare down at the PADD to keep herself from
saying something she shouldn't. Right now, they were leaving behind a
situation they knew more about than anyone, and that left a bad taste in her
mouth. She tries to keep her mind blank, not wanting anyone to try and read
her and stick their nose where she didn't want it. She just wanted to spend
some time in the holosuite and work off aggression, then get back to work..
after a long nap.

Jason sat forward "What about security? Where there any hazards or risks on
the planet?" Jason chimed in

"it is expected that the Admiral will assign security details. In desperate
times people so act desperately so it will be imperative." Vilqa replied as
her hands pressed to the table, "Any other insight?"

"Besides noticing the crew is working itself too hard?" Toby glanced at K`y.

"I will need to add to that overwork just a bit Captain." Justin said
softly, "All away team members will need to bring their environment suits to
Engineering for replacement, and I suggest that medical order all away team
members in for a checkup. According to my readings, we were exposed to a
higher concentration of Radiation than was anticipated. Engineering will
also be decomissioning the 3 shuttles used for this mission for total
reclamation and replacement. Though unless we have another high priority
mission that requires shuttles, we will be taking our time replacing them."

Vilqa looked towards Lox with a perplexed expression; "Those suits as well
as the shuttles are built to be used in such situations. I do not understand
why they are no longer serviceable to be in use? Do not jump the gun before
you confirm they are no longer viable devices. There is no way that you will
know until you test the items. Were there radiation leaks or issues that
occurred to make you want to pull so many shuttles and EVA suits from use?"

"Yes ma'am they are. The problem is that once they reach a certain level of
saturation they need replaced. It isn't something that normally comes up in
a large batch. It is also not something that is an emergency, we just need
to get the suits replaced in case of future emergencies." Justin replied.
"I also informed everyone of this when we were in the process of departing."

Cait gave Justin such a look. "And I assure, the away team is just fine.
Tired maybe, but as for radiation, just ducky. Kat and I spent a lot of time
scanning everyone, including our people. If you're having any issues, let me
know now and we'll deal with them."

"Understood doctor. We Trill are a bit more sensitive so, after I catch
some sleep, I'll make an appointment." He said.

Tension was high, it didn't take a betazoid to determine that. Her eyes
glanced to Toby, "I agree on the statement you just made Commander. We are
due for a week long R&R and I am inclined to take it now at some location
once return to the Ohmacht system."

He leaned towards the Captain and murmured, "I would suggest somewhere that
caters to many different tastes.. And maybe has shuttle racing or something
to give our engineer an outlet for his pent up desire to break and repair
something." Toby grinned as he straightened, his words hinting that perhaps
Justin's desire to go over all the suits and the shuttles was because of his
need to tinker and the lack of oportunity on the mission.

"The shuttles were modified to add the extra shielding. Normal maintenance
can handle decommissioning them and replacing them. They shouldn't be used
again in their current configuration, unless it is in a high radiation
situation." Justin answered quietly. "At for R&R... no racing for me this
time around. Nice sandy beach, warm ocean... good company.. that is what I
need this time around."

A steady rhythm of fingers tapping could be heard on the table, the sound
soft, from where Kylee sat. Everyone was in the mood to argue, and she
didn't want to hear it. She kept quiet, however, just wanting the meeting to
get over with. She arched her brow at the mention of R&R, not really
thinking she needed it, but figured she could use the time to catch up on
some of her experiments.

"Let's set course for home and I will make a decision where we stop while on
route." Vilqa confirmed, "I will tell you that it won't be Risa." She nearly
groaned after saying it, "Far too overdone."

Cait chuckled. "Besides, didn't we get banned from there? I know this little
planet called Argo. Tons of fun to be had and trouble around every corner
for the trouble inclined."

Toby blanched, all the color fleeing from his face as if it'd found the
power of warp drive all on it's own. "I, don't think we really need a place
that caters to trouble Doctor. The point of R&R is to relax, not spend it in
the brig."

Marcus looked at the Captain, "Somewhere with kayaking and mountain hiking
readily available would be preferable." He glanced across at Kylee, sure she
was not the least interested, and then back to K'ylana with a smirk "And
perhaps something that cators to the Klingon taste among us."

After taking in the look on poor Toby's face, Cait couldn't help it...she
started laughing. "I'm..I'm sorry. I was just kidding. I'm a respectible
member of the command team and a department head. I don't go out looking for
trouble anymore....I'd like some place with horseback riding and maybe a
role play tourney."

Kylee glanced up as the conversation switched to topic of where to go. She
didn't really care, planning to spend the time on the ship anyway. "Captain,
if the discussion of the planet is over, may I be excused to return to my
work?" she asked, wanting to return to projects she'd been neglecting.

Vilqa nodded, "Yes Lieutenant though I did have the floor open to openly
discuss any issues met with the Balbooan planet. I do reopen that
conversation should any of you have more to add. If not then each of you are
dismissed to complete formal reports for Commander Blake and I to review."

Kylee placed her hands on the table, beginning to rise, pausing at Vilqa's
words. "The only thing I would add is that a patrol should be put in the
asteroid field, and any commercial work be put on hold," she stated, sitting
back down in the seat.

"Oh I guarantee you that the Federation will be on the highest of alerts and
will be following up on your findings of the trajectory." K`ylana confirmed
to Nix.

Kylee let out a soft grunt at that, a scowl slowly creeping across her
features as she settled back in her chair. She lowered her gaze back to her
PADD, keeping her feelings quiet on the situation.

Cait sighed. She'd have to open this dance now. "Lieutenant Nix, the only
work you'll be doing for the next 12 hours is catching up on your sleep. I'm
afraid I must insist..."

Kylee arched her brow, her gaze lifting as she turned to look at Cait.
"Excuse me.. I don't believe I heard that right.." she said, a dangerous
undertone to her voice.

Justin looked at Kylee, then at Cait, then back to Kylee. He shook his head
and returned to his task of paying close attention while trying not to fall
asleep where he sat. His next item of business was about 8 hours of sleep,
then a light duty rotation in Engineering.. doing the dreaded paperwork he
hated so much. "I suggest that you take the good doctor's advice and get
some rest." more to himself than anyone else. He didn't even realize he
spoke it openly.

He cleared his throat once, to get their attention before speaking, "Before
this degenerates into a childish fight over who is and who isn't tired.
Everyone will take at least 8 hours down before they return to their work."
He looked at Kylee, "That, is an order Lieutenant. This particular mission
has been hard on all of us, so we will get some rest. At least 8 hours,
anyone caught back in their labs, offices, or departments before the end of
that 8 hours will find themselves reprimanded for disobeying orders." He
looked around at the others, "Now, are there any issues about the Balbooan
planet, that we haven't already heard of? If not, I strongly advise everyone
get some rest, and I expect your full reports to hit my desk in 10 hours."

Kylee turned her attention to Toby as he cleared his throat, her displeasure
at being told to sleep, like a child, clear on her face. She grabbed her
PADDs off the table as she scowled, though did take note of the orders. No
lab, office, or dept.. meaning she could still spend time out of her room.
That meant she could spend time in the holosuites, which was her plan
anyway. That worked for her.

"I think it best we are all dismissed here. Get some rest. The Ridge will
leave Balbooan space within the next two hours." K`ylana stated, "If we need
to at any of your recommendations we can reconvene on rested minds and
bodies. Dismissed."

<<OK all any logs this week assume we are returning 'home' to our fleet>>
