| Character Description | Vice Admiral Thomas X. Spartan is a staunch practitioner of diplomacy backed by military aptitude, far from shy of using his reputation as a soldier in negotiations. Captain Worekh Luta counts as Thomas' best friend. It is impossible to ascertain the amount of times each has saved the other's life. While the Vice Admiral will give new faces to his command the benefit of the doubt as far as their worth is concerned, Thomas postpones forming decisive opinions of people until they have stood side-by-side with him during a crisis. Served with distinction during the Dominion War. One of Vice Admiral Spartan's greatest regrets, has always been that he did not participate in the final victory over Cardassia Prime. Ironically, the Captain often referred to that time as his proudest moment, having been able to resist volunteering for the campaign when his then new wife had asked him not to go. Thomas believes in the spirit of the law and rigorously follows rules and regulations, especially when the safety and security of those in his charge are concerned. He is particularly known to frown upon those who apply for special dispensation as people merely "seeking attention". Captain Spartan was informed in 2388 that a Federation transport carrying his wife and twin daughters has been gone missing near the Cardassian border. Not one to allow his personal life to affect his duties, this family tragedy has seemingly no impact on Spartan's mental well-being. Months later, made Rear Admiral, Thomas became briefly and secretly romantically involved with Commander Durgo Lourelle. After an imprisonment of 381 days on Alit'ras, Thomas is promoted to Vice Admiral and re-appointed to command the 14th Fleet. |
