| Character Description | Korczynski is loyal to a fault and takes pride in his work. Keen to do well, and generally has few problems fitting in with his peers due to his easy going nature. Reluctantly took on command responsibilities in favour of a career in Engineering. Has been torn in the past between his familial duties and his responsibilities as a Starfleet captain and struggles to balance both. Good friends with Jayne Fury, with whom he shares adopted parent duties of Ravel Fury. Best man at the wedding of Thomas Spartan and Makiko Furyama. Protégé of the Klingon Worekh Luta and Starfleet officer Thomas Spartan. Korczynski graduated from Starfleet Academy during the Dominion War and as an ensign served on the front lines while on board the USS Ticonderoga. After the conflict ended he was moved to the refit project for theUSS Bismarck before serving on that ship, eventually being promoted to Lieutenant Commander and made Chief Engineer as the Galaxy class vessel continued to explore the unknown regions of space. The young lieutenant commander relished the challenge that command offered after becoming Executive Officer on the USS Bismarck and pushed for his own command. Was rewarded with commissions on the Sentinel and the Stargazer. It was during Korczynski's first tour on the Intrepid class USS Stargazer where he successfully negotiated a defence agreement between the Federation and the Cardassian Union on Im'rek Nor. This mission was rewarded with the Palm Leaf and reassignment to command the shakedown and initial cruise of the Sovereign class USS Indefatigable. Noticed as a high flyer, Korczynski was under consideration for promotion and served as adjutant to the Chief of Starfleet Operations for fourteen months before requesting another commission. Reunited with the crew of the USS Stargazer,it was only a matter of months before Korczynski was eventually forced to give up exploration in order to keep his marriage and family together and he accepted several staff postings in Operations and Intelligence. Eventually the veteran officer was assigned to the diplomatic post of Stafleet Attache to the Federation Embassy on Cardassia Prime while his family remained on Earth. Captain Korczynski's involvement in the Kimari Incident led to his recall from Cardassia. He testified before a Stafleet Board of Inquiry about his actions and was not charged. Subsequently Korczynski was sent to Starbase 517 and served in two staff positions within the Fourteenth Fleet, as the Commander of First Squadron, then as Chief of Staff to Vice Admiral T'Leva. After an brief posting on the USS Brisbane he was given his current assignment as an honorary aide-de-camp to the Federation President, stationed on Earth. |
