Family History: Father was an officer in Starfleet. Great Grandfather an ambassador to the Klingon Empire. Family used to live on a Galaxy class star ship that increased his desire to travel amongst the stars and to become an officer of star fleet.

Personal History: Spent much of his time on a galaxy class star ship though was sent back to earth during the Dominion war. Entered Star Fleet Academy 2383

At the academy Marcus worked hard and studied well. He was adept at languages due to the exposure given him while on board the Galaxy class vessel as a child. This exposure soon showed up in his studies and he complimented his knowledge of Klingon with a course in Cardassian. After comtemplating persuing his linguistic skills more directly he decided instead to focus on a more varied source of study training to become a skilled operations officer on board one of the starfleet vessels. Space held his heart.

That is until he met one Shania Neasau. Over the course of his time at the academy he fell in love with this officer; they both shared a love of the past, knowledge and space. They spent time together recreationally and for study purposes but a freak accident was thought to have killed Shania shortly before their graduation. Marcus, heartbroken, determined to forge a career in star fleet without her but has since remained single and very few have been able to gain entry past his shielded heart.

His first commission was on the U.S.S. Erinys under a captain Tarryn. It was here that he met both Cait Brody and K`ylana Vilqa. Though he made fast friends with K`ylana his relationship with Cait was rocky to begin with but soon ironed out. To this day they both command his respect and attention. While he does not outwardly show his affection and trust of these two comrades he would call them friend to the end.

After the destruction of the Erinys he transfered to the Audax where he continued his career as Operations Manger of the vessel. He was given three lenghty periods of leave; two due to the sickness of his mother. The second period resulting in her death. This rocked him to his core though he has spoken of it to know one. Since this time his dad and he have become estranged, his dad wishing him to return to Earth as a linguistics teacher at the academy, so enabling him to be close to the family. Saladin's love for the stars called him back to the Audax. After being transfered to the position of Operations Manager on the U.S.S. Vimy Ridge Marcus again turned his attention towards Linguistics.

Marcus studied for the best part of two years at the Vulcan school of linguistics in V'ron, graduating with honours. He excelled at the Vulcan ancient language and understanding of rituals in part due to his love of history. He was requested to consider a career in diplomacy but after much thought once more turned his attention back towards his old friends and colleagues aboard the Vimy Ridge.

In recent years Marcus had discovered that the flame of his youth, Shania Neasua was not killed in a freak accident. Though there is little more about her where abouts he has spoken to her on several occassions and it has become almost an obsessions of his to find out the truth as to her location and existence. Though this obsession surfaces rarely due to his commitment to work and starfleet he can be found at times reading through reems of data from starbases, to merchant vessels, and planets in an attempt to find Shania.

Such is Marcus Saladin.
